Here’s a fanfic preview

So I was pretty eager on working on a Sho fanfic which has been developing on the back of my head for weeks now. My impatience is mostly due to the sad fact that I CAN’T FIND ANY DECENT ARASHI FANFIC (my diva demands are just too much for a fanfic to take, eh?). Plus, it’s not everyday that my writer’s block completely vanished (apparently… o_O). TAKE ADVANTAGE BEFORE IT RETURNS! D:<

I hope to write this as a full-fledged Sakurai Sho fic (Pairu-chan don’t get your hopes high xD) because I really think Sho deserves a loving ficcie in the floods of Jun/Aiba/Nino/Ohno-centric fics. I’m not sure if this story’d be approved as an appropriate Sho-centric fanfic, so I wrote a preview on the first chapter so I can get a cute Sakurai-Sho-Fanfic Approval Stamp. Muahaha. It’s actually a draft on the scene where the character and Sho meets each other xD

(Tell me if it’s corny because I think it is and I’ve no idea if it’s good or bad T_T)

Story Title: Mercurial Dreams
Main characters: Sakurai Sho, OC (Original Character)
Summary: Hiroki is a recent university graduate, a newly hired Public Relations and Social Communications teacher at Johnny’s Entertainment, and secret teppanyaki chef by night. She’s young and she’s known to lose her temper a lot in front of the brats she teach, but her temper’s exactly what got her involved with Sakurai Sho. But who would’ve known their animosity could bring them closer?

Story Preview:
Hiroki frantically rummaged through her backpack for the sixth thousandth time. She knew she had her notebook with her when she was conducting the afternoon class, because she vividly remembered jotting down notes on a few of the Juniors’ acting flaws.

Yeah, that notebook which has every single bloody vital notes and remarks of those stuck-up, they-think-they’re-so-damn-pretty-oh-boo-boo Johnny’s hell-bent Juniors attending her Public Relations and Social Communication class.

A few boys hung back in the classroom, watching their instructor in mild interest making a mess around her desk. Hiroki noticed this, and in sudden blind provocation, she cast her icy eyes at those boys and called out.

“Kitaro-kun, have you seen my notebook? It’s a thick one, with a purple leather cover.”

The shortest boy gulped under Hiroki’s piercing gaze, and stuttered back, “I…I think I saw Sakamoto-san holding one just like sensei said, and… and… and shoved into his jacket. I think…”

Izami, the most confident one of the group, stood out to his friend’s defence and faced Hiroki with calmness. “I remember the purple book too, sensei. We thought it looked similar to your book, but Sakamoto-san disappeared before we could even ask him about it.”

Sakamoto, eh… That boy had been having difficulties in his public socializing skills since entering her class a month ago, it came as no surprise he’d be the culprit. Plus, she had this nagging feeling he wasn’t exactly an angel, either. Hiroki cast a grateful smile to the boys, and casually spoke, “Kitaro, I expect you to overcome your stuttering by next lesson. Izami shall be your coach.” And with a satisfied, do-it-or-else grin, she sped for the corridor with blood on her mind.

It took no longer than 5 minutes before Hiroki spotted a small boy crouching near a vending machine on the main hallway, his head buried in a thick book that looked all too familiar to her. Hell, someone was definitely going to be stuck with cleaning duties for the rest of his pretty Johnny’s year.

“Sakamoto-kun.”

The boy’s head jerk up in fear, and his eyes widened at the sight of his murderous sensei standing above him. Quickly, he tried to make a run for it, but Hiroki grabbed the collar of his jacket and flattened him against the vending machine.

“I want to know why you had to steal my book,” Hiroki questioned coldly.

“I wanted to improve on my communication so much, but I didn’t know what to do so I needed a look inside your notebook!” Sakamoto argued childishly, struggling with Hiroki’s fists around his front.

“That’s not the way you work on yourself, Sakamoto,” she growled at the small boy, “There’s nothing wrong with walking right up to me and ask for advice, but why -”

“What’s going on here?”

Hiroki turned to cast her death glare at the intruder on her left, but only to be completely caught off guard by a slightly tall guy, whose narrow eyes cast down at her in suspicion. Hiroki had almost memorised his face by heart, having shown many of his interview videos in her classes. Of course, who wouldn’t know Sakurai Sho?

In her fury she completely thrown off her initial surprise by Sho’s appearance and ignored him as she turned back to Sakamoto. “I want you to apologise and promise never to do something as stupid as that.”

Sensei…” Sakamoto stubbornly pleaded. He was going red with embarrassment in front of his senpai, but it didn’t stop him from weaselling his way out of this mess. He turned to Sho and cried out, “Sakurai-senpai, please tell Hiroki-sensei to stop! She’s scaring me!”

Tears were falling down the boy’s eyes now, and it angered Hiroki even more. She thought she had him so predictable by his poor socializing skills, and to assume he couldn’t act to save his life, she should consider those believably wet, puppy eyes he was showing.

Sho looked from the crying boy to the fuming young woman, and then jiggled the coins in his hand as he decided, “If you could just move over a little… I’m here to get some drinks for my friends.”

Hiroki could only burn herself to ashes with her immense anger, now wholeheartedly directed at Sho. “Well forgive me for being such a selfish git, but I’m not moving until I hear an apology from this boy,” Hiroki snapped.

“It would be a little easier for that,” Sho said matter-of-factly, pointing at her, “if you don’t intend on killing him on the spot with those hands.”

Hiroki didn’t realise she still had her death grip tight on Sakamoto’s shirt. In stung pride, she loosened her grip and massaged her white knuckles, but only after grabbing her notebook from Sakamoto. She closed her eyes to calm herself down, and said softly, “Just… don’t be so foolish next time, okay?” she opened her eyes and tried to smile, which she ended up wincing.

“I’m sorry, sensei,” Sakamoto apologised as quietly as he could, and scrambled off as fast as his short legs could take him before Hiroki said another word. For a while Hiroki just stared at the corner Sakamoto had turned to, and her notebook, wondering if she had been a little too rough and unprofessional.

“If I were that boy, I wouldn’t think twice about quitting your class tomorrow,” Sho’s solemn voice broke the silence.

Hiroki pursed her lips at Sho as he inserted coins into the vending machine. “If you’re teaching a bunch of air-headed brats whose life purpose is to sing, dance and look cute, you wouldn’t think twice about teaching them something called humility,” she replied.

“They’re not air-heads,” Sho refuted, glaring at her in impatience as he punched the button for a Coke, “all you need is to cool off that temper of yours.”

“You don’t know me well enough to know my temper, Sakurai,” Hiroki said hotly, stepping closer to him with a dangerous look, “and I’m inclined to think you’re probably another air-head.”

With her nose stuck up, she skulked off without a backward glance. Of course, inside she was a total wreck, because she knew it was a very, very bad idea to curse a Keio graduate. Damn, she really needed to control her temper.

As for Fangirl Invasion sequel (currently unnamed), I may write a few additional chapters into a short story rather than a one-shot =D Because I’m just too nice when it is in high demand (from 2 very eager fangirls… *winkwink*).

SIDE NOTE: No updates tomorrow, because I’d be busy, er, shopping xD Okay fine, I’m meeting up my best buddy during the day, and when I come home I only got an hour before departure for another shopping mall with my family. Lots more shopping and movie (we’re gonna watch National Treasure – will tell you how it is because I think it’s gonna ROCK my Arashi socks xD). I’ll miss Aiba no Rekomen~! Poor lonely Reiji-chan… On a happier note, I’m going to shop for Christmas cards! The recipients, you knooooow who you are <3 <3

and the title is ‘Mercurial Dreams’ Sugoi ne?

  4. 4 tashiichaan December 23, 2007 at 4:39 pm

Yeah, I needed a title which reflects the theme of the story, and hence ‘mercurial’ xD

I’m still working on chapter 1, and your responses tell me that my initial plot for the chapter is interesting enough! I do wanna show some (as Sakura-chan put it xD) Harlequin-ish animosity between Sho and Hiroki to reveal Sho’s bad temper. Bwahaha. And yes it gets more and more interesting as the chapters continue.

I’ve yet to choose a girl to represent Hiroki… I’m not for any actress, but I need a girl whose whole outlook and vibe greatly resembles my idea of Hiroki. And yes I’ll work on a banner for the story xD
